Property New entry
£1.95 MILLION FOR A HOUSE CALLED PUD HILL.
Seven bedrooms, nearly two acres, an enormous cellar and one of the least £1.95-million-sounding names we've ever heard.

There are certain names you expect to see attached to a £1.95 million Cotswolds country house. The Old Rectory. The Manor. Something involving Court, Hall or possibly House. This one is called Pud Hill. And frankly, we love it. The house is in Inchbrook, near Nailsworth, and dates partly from the 17th century, with a substantial addition made around 1840. It's Grade II listed and rather more impressive than its wonderfully unserious name suggests. Inside, there's a grand Victorian stone staircase, Gothic-style windows, multiple reception rooms and an 886 sq ft cellar — which Dad has immediately decided is a wine cellar despite nobody asking him. The current listing describes seven bedrooms in the main house plus a separate one-bedroom annexe, five bathrooms and about 7,706 sq ft including outbuildings. It sits in roughly 1.8 acres, overlooking the Nailsworth Stream and Inch Brook confluence. Country Life featured Pud Hill at £1.95 million on 28 September 2026. Since then, the current property listing has been reduced to £1.9 million. So that's £50,000 off. Which presumably leaves enough money for pudding. Quick facts What: Pud Hill Where: Inchbrook, near Nailsworth, Gloucestershire Originally marketed: £1.95m Current asking price: £1.9m Bedrooms: 7 + separate 1-bedroom annexe Bathrooms: 5 Size: Approx. 7,706 sq ft including outbuildings Land: Approx. 1.8 acres Age: Origins in the early 17th century; substantially enlarged around 1840 Listed: Grade II Cellar: 886 sq ft One other nice fact: it's only about a 10-minute walk from Nailsworth, so it isn't some enormous house stranded miles from civilisation.
Why it's ridiculous
Ridiculous name. Ridiculously lovely house. This is exactly what Cotswolds Ridiculousness is for: something objectively rather fabulous with one detail that makes the entire thing much more entertaining.
