Great Tew
The glamorous one.
Honey-coloured cottages, sweeping parkland, a famously photogenic pub and the 3,500-acre estate behind it all. The show-off of the family, and it knows it.
Places · The Tews
If someone designed a corner of Oxfordshire specifically for Sunday newspapers, muddy Labradors and people who own more than one Barbour, it might look suspiciously like The Tews. Great Tew is the show-off of the family: honey-coloured cottages, sweeping parkland, a famously photogenic pub and the 3,500-acre Great Tew Estate. Little Tew is its quieter sibling, while Duns Tew sits a little further east with proper village life and another excellent old pub.
Together they are the sort of place where you can walk across beautiful countryside, have lunch somewhere involving flagstone floors and a fire, and spend the journey home wondering whether moving to the Cotswolds is financially irresponsible or simply inevitable. Our advice: visit all three. Just don’t start looking at house prices.
